Increased Police Presence in Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires City Police have reinforced security at several local police stations with nearly 500 officers to increase police presence on the streets and prevent prisoner escapes. According to a police spokesperson, the reinforcement also aims to provide more effective safeguarding inside the precincts.

So far this year, only three of the reinforced precincts have recorded prisoner escapes: 6A, 1D, and 3A. This measure responds to the need to "flood" the streets with uniformed officers to ensure safety in various neighborhoods of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, and there is a possibility of extending these actions to other neighborhood police stations.

The Ministry of Security, under the direction of Waldo Wolff, made this decision following a series of escapes from police facilities in the city. The arrival of the new officers will not only serve to strengthen security in the precincts but also to increase the presence of custodians there, according to information provided by the Argentine News Agency.

A total of 461 officers from various non-operational areas of the City Police will join the neighborhood police stations, with the possibility that in the coming days the number of uniformed officers in the precincts will increase. So far, personnel have been deployed in 21 facilities in the city, including neighborhoods such as Retiro, Monserrat, Villa Urquiza, Belgrano, Palermo, Chacarita, among others.
